Protecting the environment begins with action, and meaningful change often starts with a single community coming together. In recognition of World Environment Day, students and volunteers joined forces to demonstrate that collective responsibility can have a lasting impact on the future of Sri Lanka’s coastal ecosystems.

Organised by the SPM Foundation, the Beach Clean-Up Drive brought together dedicated volunteers from ESOFT Metro Campus and the Leo Club of ESOFT, who worked side by side to remove waste from the shoreline and promote environmental stewardship.

More than a clean-up campaign, the initiative served as a reminder that protecting marine life and preserving natural habitats depends on the everyday choices people make. Through active participation, students had the opportunity to contribute beyond the classroom while strengthening their sense of social responsibility and community leadership.

The event reflected ESOFT ‘s continued commitment to encouraging students to engage in initiatives that create meaningful change, while fostering values of sustainability, teamwork, and civic responsibility. By supporting environmental conservation efforts, participants not only helped restore a section of Sri Lanka’s coastline but also inspired others to take ownership of protecting the nation’s natural resources.
