MSc Management in

the study of industry techniques with advanced construction management of
projects. The course will develop and enhance your analytical, and managerial

in construction.

What you’ll learn in this course:

  • Financial management practices including budgeting, accounting, project appraisal and cash flow forecasting
  • The application of criminal, contract and tort law and its importance and relevance to both construction contracts and managerial responsibilities in the execution of projects
  • Leadership skills including communication, time management, motivation, planning and programming of work, setting of market strategies
  • Procurement strategies, estimating & tendering procedures and controlling cost of projects
  • Project management tools and techniques including risk, health & safety and quality management

You will gain extensive knowledge of the legal
and contractual systems relevant to the construction industry. You will also study
how design and construction work is priced and how these prices are used to
control the costs for the firms involved. You will analyse the systems that control the quality and safety of
construction projects and will gain a greater understanding of the
relationships between the various contributing parties. This course
provides a strategic overview of construction management issues as well as a
deep and broad knowledge of advanced project management techniques.

  • An honours degree with a Second Class or above in Civil Engineering or equivalent in related disciplines (architecture, surveying, building, and construction)
