BEng (Hons) in
Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme has been designed to have
unique features considering the current industry trends and demands. For instance, the module
Electrical Systems and Installation comprehensively cover the design, installation,
and maintenance-related subject matter of medium and low-voltage electrical
systems in commercial and industrial buildings, factories, and other built
environments.
At present, there are
over 200 registered solar power-related companies in the country. Sri Lanka intends
to increase renewable energy's share of total installed capacity to 50% by
2030. It
is 10% right now. There are significant numbers of medium and large-scale wind
and solar PV projects to be implemented in the coming years. At the same time,
rooftop solar systems are becoming widespread. Renewable Energy Systems module
in the programs addresses the current local, regional, and global trends in
Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
This programme has been
very much custom-designed to address the current trends locally and regionally
with a heavy practically oriented subject content. The timely nature and high
relevance of the course content contribute to students’ overall employability.
